Is there some sort of gene that draws older religious people to stupid ideas?
When the TV stations switched to digital, we got a religion channel. My folks have always been religious, but they've used their brains too, and could pick out what is worthwhile and what isn't.
Mom's "way to unwind" is more and more just watching TV. I understand that; she does have a lot on her plate. But more and more she's watching this channel, and many of the show's they're playing are scams and/are only wanting money. She's eating them up.
Nothing I say seems to get through to her. Her stock answer is "well, you don't have to watch it." I don't, but I can hear the TV from here.
She's not crazy, she's in her right mind, but seriously? These are the same types of folks she could pick out earlier and have nothing to do with, not even watch. She loves to read, and there are other shows and DVDs to watch, and she's stuck on this channel.
Dad doesn't care what she watches, he's not a conflict kind of guy.
I'm concerned, but I don't see what I can do.
